WinterProof Bag Quick Start Guide

Thank you for choosing Unbound Outdoor. Follow the simple steps below to pack your bag with ease and get ready for your next adventure.

1. Insert Your Skis

Slide your skis into the main compartment of the bag, inserting the bases first.  Align the top tips (not the tails) with the direction of the arrow.  Guide the bottoms in first, then position the top portion of the bag around the ski tips.

Position the skis so the edges face upwards toward the top of the bag – they should not face the side walls.  The bindings should rest horizontally, lying flat against the inner lining for optimal protection.

2. Secure Interior Buckles

Once the skis are fully inside, center the bindings within the bag and fasten the interior buckles snugly around the skis. This prevents shifting during transport and provides added protection for your gear.

3. Zip the Bag Closed

With the interior buckles secured, carefully zip the bag closed, ensuring no fabric or straps are caught in the zipper.

4. Fasten Exterior Magnetic Buckles

With the bag fully zipped, secure the exterior magnetic buckles to reinforce the bag’s form-fitting design and add additional structure.

5. Adjust Straps for Carrying

The backside features a versatile MOLLE webbing and adjustable strap system. Use the web loops to attach straps to the hooks that best suit your height and comfort.

Choose your preferred carrying style – backpack, duffle, or crossbody – attach the straps accordingly, adjust for a secure fit, and you’re ready to go.

6. Use the Handles

Ensure the central carrying handle is properly secured. When carrying by hand, lift the bag using this handle. Alternatively, the multi-purpose handles at either end can also be used for convenient transport.

7. Transporting the Bag

The bag fits seamlessly on roof racks, hitch racks, and in your trunk.  Whenever possible, place the bag securely in your vehicle.

When mounting on a roof rack, position the skis in the rack the same way you would without a protective bag.  Ensure your equipment is stable, all clamps are securely fastened, and double-check the fit before driving.

Important Fitment Notice

The backplate system is designed for ski racks with a minimum distance of 66 cm (26 inches) between the front and rear crossbars.

Before every use, the user must ensure that:

  • All rack components are installed strictly according to the rack manufacturer’s instructions.
  • The bag is fully secured and does not move or shift when pulled, shaken, or under normal driving conditions.
  • All straps, hooks, and mounting points are completely engaged and tightened.
